Mike Goodall confirmed as Boxing night referee |
by Joe McCabe, Apex News & Public Relations VETERAN Boxing Master of Ceremonies, Mike Goddall, who has officiated at over 250 World Title Boxing fights has been confirmed this week as the MC for the forthcoming Contender and Pretender White Collar Boxing night in the Nuremore Hotel on Saturday June 12th. Mike has introduced countless boxing stars including Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis into the ring. Meanwhile, training for the Contenders and Pretenders White Collar boxing event continues on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Phoenix Centre. On Tuesday night the gloves went on for a sparring session to give the participants a feel for the type of action they will have between the ropes on the 12th June in the Nuremore Hotel.The girls are giving are giving a big effort. Sharon Rennick (Classique Hair salon), Lynda Roulier, Dorothy Gray & Trisha Mc Clone (Monaghan Leisure Complex), Orla Carey (Active8 Energies),Laura Birdy (Eakins Pharmacy), Niamh Lynch (Nallos Bar), Donna Byrne & Hillary Bodell have trained hard and are boxing really well. The men can be broken down into 3 divisons. Lightweights: Stephen Cunningham (Mc Ardles Bar) Darrel Kelly (Hughes Bar) David Mc Ardle, Robbie Finnegan (Finegan Coaches) Aiden Shannon (Wall to Wall Décor), Gary Cleary, Declan Finnegan, Lochlainn Byrne (Riverbank Bar), Laurance Ogle (Nuremore Hotel) & David Reilly. Middleweights: Eugene Finegan (Creevy Construction), Martins Makarov, Cathal Byrne (Daly’s Hardware), Michael Bell (Inniskeen Ladies CLG), Eugene McCrink, Kevin McMahon, Declan Sharkey (Gerry Jones Solicitors) & Padraig Gollogly.Heavyweights: Brian Finegan (Red Environmental), Andrew Mc Elroy, Declan Larkin, Ciaran Mc Connon (Mc Connon Car Sales), Paddy Malone (Malones Bar) Mick Murphy (Carrick Aces Athletics Club), Paul Goodman (Emerald Bar), Rory McEvoy (Stationary Solutions), Brian Shevlin (Shevlins Bar) & Kevin McLoughlin. Two other Heavyweights Robert McElwaine (McElwaine Supermarket) & Martin Donaghy (T & W) are hoping to be fit in time for the event have both picked up recurring injuries while preparing for the event. |
