Plans well underway for twins record attempt |
by Joe McCabe, Apex News & Public Relations PLANS are well advanced for an Irish record attempt to get the largest number of twins together in one place at the same time on Saturday June 5th and during the June Bank Holiday Festival Weekend in Carrickmacross. The idea is the brainchild of local Lions Club President, Paddy Gollogly, himself a twin, who stressed this week that the record attempt is for people of all ages and that money raised will go directly to well deserving charities. In case people think that this is only for babies this attempt is for twins of all ages from the cradle to the grave. In the event of anybody not been able to attend they can also register even though they are not coming and pledge money. Friends and neighbours of twins can also do the same. The whole aspect of this Irish record attempt is to get money in for charities which can be distributed by the Lions Club. This new event will add a great new attraction to the Festival and has the potential to grow over the years as no such gathering has ever been organized anywhere in Ireland. Paddy added? We’re hoping to get as many sets of twins as we can get to travel to Carrickmacross for the Irish record attempt and all the twins will take part in the Twins Parade on that date. It should be quite a spectacle. At the moment we’re looking for sponsors for the event.? Registration for the sets of twins will be between 11am and 1pm on Saturday June 5th. A group photograph will be taken prior to the parade starting off. Paddy added: ?We’re going to give prizes for the Twins furthest travelled to Carrickmacross, for the Oldest and youngest set of Twins and we’re also going to give a Novelty prize as well.
