After a hugely successful opening night, Carrick Laughs returns to Vanity Nightclub on Sunday 29th January, headlined by one of the stars of Irish comedy, Karl Spain.
Best known for RTE shows such as “Karl Spain Wants a Woman” and “Karl Spain Wants to Rock”, he is also a regular on “The Panel”. The Sunday Times have called him “achingly funny” while Hot Press declared that “the future of Irish comedy is in safe hands”. A fantastic support line-up includes local man Michael Downey, who originally started comedy in the early '00s. He was finalist in the BBC New Comedy Awards, Channel 4's So You Think You're Funny and RTE Raw Talent. Michael finished in joint third place in the Channel 4 competition, tied with a certain gentleman named Alan Carr. Another comic called John Bishop didn't finish in the top three. The bill is completed by Kieran Lawless, who headlines all over Ireland and the UK and is a previous winner of Ireland’s premiere comedy competition, “Bulmers Nuthin’ Butt Funny” award. Alan Gernon, dubbed “one of the stars of the performance” by Hot Press magazine, will be Resident MC.
Tickets are available from Vanity for €10 or online at www.eventelephant.com/carricklaughsjanuary. Admission includes free entry to the nightclub afterwards. Doors open at 8:30pm and the show kicks off at 9pm. Fiddler’s Bistro is offering a Comedy Meal Deal on the night – 2 course and gig ticket for €25. Call 042 9663863 for reservations.
