Carrickmacross Town Council, which is made up of 9 elected members, employs an outdoor staff of 8, an administrative staff of five, two School Wardens and two Engineering Staff. The Local Authority in Carrickmacross is responsible for matters relating to housing, roads, parks and open spaces, planning and other miscellaneous services in the Town.

Carrickmacross Water Supply Scheme Tender Documents Approved

Minister for the Environment, Mr. Phil Hogan, T.D. approved the Design, Build, Operate Contract Documents for the Carrickmacross Water Supply Scheme on the 25th May 2011. The announcement was welcomed by Monaghan County Council and enables the scheme to proceed to tender stage in the coming months.

The DBO Tender Documents provide for the design, construction and operation for a period of up to 20 years of facilities to abstract water from eight groundwater sources, pump the water to a new Water Treatment Plant and Storage Reservoir at Naffarty, before distribution to the existing network. The completed works will provide a reliable and high quality water supply for Carrickmacross Town and environs for years to come.
