MAKE WAY DAY 2018 - Making way on our streets for people with a Disability

Make-way-Day-poster-Monaghan County Council are supporting national #Make Way Day 2018, an initiative being led out by the Disability Federation of Ireland. Make Way Day is a national community campaign to encourage the wider community to consider the access needs of people with disabilities in the public spaces we all share.

The day is being co-ordinated locally by Monaghan Disability network supported by Monaghan Integrated Development.

#Make Way Day 2018 aims to raise awareness of the obstacles and barriers people with disabilities and mobility difficulties face in public areas. Obstacles such as badly parked cars, bicycles, sandwich boards and other promotional items are often caused by thoughtless and genuine lack of awareness. Other obstacles are also caused by inaccessible streetscapes and poorly placed street furniture and bins.

We are asking local businesses to support #Make Way Day 2018 and support people with disabilities and mobility difficulties in our communities.

You can support #Make Way Day 2018 in a number of ways
