Cavan-Monaghan LEADER has announced details of their upcoming Festival Conference scheduled for Thursday, October 18th, 2012 in the Four Seasons Hotel, Monaghan to commence from 9.30am.

In the morning sessions the Conference will focus on the challenges and opportunities for Festivals in the region, it will celebrate the successes of Festivals in Cavan and Monaghan and it will explore the legacy of the widely acclaimed Cavan's Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann and how this might be built upon.

Cllr. Matt Carthy has raised the issue of a derelict shed on vacant land between the Woodvale and Foxfield housing estates for several months.  The shed has, he said, has become a site of anti social behaviour and also poses a potential risk to public health and safety.

Carrickmacross Boxing ClubOn Monday evening, 1st October 2012 the Carrickmacross boxing club welcomes Deirdre Gogarty (a very successful boxer). A native of Drogheda and now living in the USA, she is coming to visit the club and launch her new book 'My Call to the Ring'.  She will be meeting the boxers and signing her new book at an open training session.

Co Monaghan VEC are now recruiting Men to take part in a project called the Men’s HUB project which will be based at at Rooskey, Monaghan.

The aim of the project is to encourage cross-community participation in training which will support men and provide them with a shared space to meet up and use as a men’s ’shed’.

Carrick Rovers AFC provide Schoolboys and Girls soccer for the Greater Carrickmacross area, including the parishes of Corduff, Killany, Donaghmoyne, Inniskeen and Maghercloone. We are currently preparing for the new season and would encourage as many young people, who have a wish to play soccer, to get in contact with the Club.

South Monaghan Sinn Féin Councillor, Matt Carthy, has called on the Government to intervene to address the issue of rising fuel prices and the implications this is having on jobs, consumers and the wider economy.

Cllr. Carthy said that the increase in fuel costs will mean motorists will have to pay an extra €1,000 per year

The network has a much greater capacity than ordinary broadband, delivers much faster access to the internet and offers competition in the broadband market.  Monaghan IT Forum and Carrickmacross Chamber of Commerce are holding an information evening to advise companies of this development and how it could benefit their business.
