The Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment confirmed that it had received the report and it was currently being considered by Wardell Armstrong, consultants engaged by the DCCAE, together with analysis and modelling detail from the investigation. The DCAE’s verification process will be completed over the coming weeks and the results issued to Monaghan County Council.

Pat O’Connor, Operations Director, Gyproc Ireland Ltd., presented on Gyproc’s water discharges the river Bursk since October 2018, stating that the company would submit a Water Management Plan to the Environmental Protection Agency by the end of the week and also intend to seek an EPA licence review application in May 2019, which will propose a new water discharge point. Pat O’Connor also delivered a presentation detailing the historical sinkhole occurrences over the Drumgossat mine.

Monaghan County Council confirmed that no decision can be made on the reopening of the LP4900 until after the investigation process was complete. The Council had requested funding from the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport to restore roads in the vicinity of the mine and the DTTAS Inspector had visited the LP4900 again. The Council is in discussions with Gyproc Ireland Ltd. regarding its costs relating to road closures and restoration works.
The next meeting of the Residents Forum is scheduled for 29 April 2019

Feile Patrick Byrne smallFEILE PATRICK BYRNE - Irish Traditional Arts Festival

Dates: 11 - 14 April

Venue: Carrickmacross Town

The Mairtín O’Connor Band, Gerry ‘fiddle’ O’Connor and the Salamanca Céilí Band are among the confirmed artists for this year’s Féile Patrick Byrne in Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan. Organised since 2007 by the local branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, the féile honours the local 19th century harper Patrick Byrne who was the first Irish traditional musician ever photographed. The Mairtín O’Connor Band – Mairtín with Cathal Hayden and Seamie O’Dowd - top the bill. All master musicians, together they produce music of astounding virtuosity. Their vibrant sound has been described as verging on perfection and redefining one’s concept of brilliance. Genuinely, their concert on 13 April can be rated as one not to be missed. Returning to the féile this year is legendary fiddle player Gerry O’Connor. Gerry will both teach and perform at the féile, giving audiences a perfect opportunity to sample the rich Oriel music tradition showcased on his latest album, Last Night’s Joy, and book, The Rose in the Gap. A must for all fiddle fans. Dancers will be well catered for with champion dancer Aoife McCabe giving a sean nós dance workshop, followed by the sets céilí with The Salamanca. For those who want to take it easier, there will be music sessions, a singing session plus heritage events. Carrickmacross Comhaltas / Féile Patrick Byrne would like to thank our funders, the Arts Council, Monaghan County Council, the Department of Culture, Heritage & the Gaeltacht and the Comhaltas Meitheal Programme for their support. monaghancoco logoMonaghan County Council in partnership with Carrick Aces Athletic Club and Carrick Rovers  Football Club are carrying out a study to assess the potential for development of a shared Sports Complex Building on the former convents lands adjacent to the Carrick Aces running track and the new pitches development being undertaken by Carrick Rovers.

Any new facility would in both service these investments and also be made available for use by other interested clubs and community organisations. Funding is potentially available for predevelopment supports under the recently announced Large Scale Sports infrastructure fund.  Any new shared building and facilities' would complement existing provision in the area and would service the greater South Monaghan and surrounding areas. A key part of the process is to undertake an extensive public consultation regarding the development of any new facilities.

We would appreciate if you could take a few minutes to complete this questionnaire.
